Why should I fund the CIAG?
The Cape Independence Advocacy Group (CIAG) is on the front lines of political change in South Africa. We all know that things have gone badly wrong since 1994, but very few organisations have a clear plan about what needs to be done to solve our problems.
Since its formation in 2020, the CIAG has consistently driven positive political change.
Amongst its successes are:
- Established the idea of Cape Independence in the mainstream political agenda forcing every major political party to declare a position on it
- Authored over 100 press articles on Cape Independence and related topics
- Conducted 3 major polls becoming the leading source of research data on Cape Independence
- Pressed the DA into tabling a Referendum Bill
- Organised and led 2 major Cape Independence marches
- Established the Western Cape Devolution Working Group (WCDWG) which brought the DA, VF Plus, ACDP, AfriForum, Solidarity, City of Cape Town, and the Western Cape Government into a collaborative working relationship.
- Wrote the Western Cape People’s Bill which VF Plus tabled in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament
- Consulted with the DA on the Western Cape Provincial Powers Bill which the DA tabled in the Western Cape Provincial Parliament
The CIAG is currently busy with the following projects:
- Organising a private referendum on Cape Independence
- Writing a constitutional change which would end all race-based policy in South Africa
- Writing provincial legislation which will help end illegal land invasions in the Western Cape
As a result of the CIAG activities, not only has Cape Independence been established as a well understood political option for the Western Cape, but the concept of federal government and devolved powers have become widely accepted, including being formally pursued by the Western Cape Government.
